Optimization

Pumps providing flow and pressure, the subsystems and equipment they supply, and the piping infrastructure between, must be considered as a whole.  Optimizing individual components does not produce an optimized system.  By considering the inter-dependencies between pumping system sub-processes, the impact of changes and failures can be considered.  NAVI’s systems approach delivers measurable performance, efficiency, reliability, and optimization improvements of the entire system.

Intelligent Controls

As the adage goes, “you can’t manage what you can’t measure.”  Managing pumping systems requires real-time measurements of the status and performance of components and processes throughout the pumping system.  Pressure, flow, temperature, and level are essential real-time inputs required for effective, adaptive, and efficient control.

One of the recent advancements in pumping technology is Variable Frequency Drives.  VFDs provide the capability to control pump speed, performance, and efficiency based on system demand and external measurements from points across the pumping system.  VFD capabilities vary based on the level of integrated control intelligence.  Control intelligence may be limited providing simple fixed speed control, external processor (PLC) control, or fully integrated software control.

Pumping System Status & Alarms

Pumping Systems require continuous monitoring of key performance measurements.  When operation affecting events, changes, or failures occur, traditional alarm systems provide multiple points of failure and delay.  Low pressure, high motor temperature and vibration, high level alarms are examples of system status indicating current or pending failures in a pumping system.  Immediately notifying maintenance personnel of current or pending failures minimizes the impact, down time, and losses associated with pumping system failures.  NAVI Solutions has addressed status alarms with its Notify™ Wireless IIoT  Pumping Alarm System.  Notify™ Wireless Pumping Alarm system continuously monitors multiple points of system status, independent of other systems, and sends immediate text alarm messages to Maintenance First Responders.

What is the total performance of your pumping system? Where are the choke points? What happens when you change equipment? How do you improve efficiency and reliability? These are all design and evaluation questions answered by hydraulic modeling.  NAVI systems employs hydraulic modelling software to assess pumping systems and benchmark the expected system performance.  By understanding the interdependencies of components and sub-systems, the impact of proposed changes can be determined.

Pumping System Assessment. When you’re not sure where to start, or how to determine the health, performance and status of your pumping systems, you can turn to the Hydraulic Institute, the pumping industry advocate developing standards, providing education and contributing to legislative rule making. NAVI PumpCheck™ Pumping System Assessment Services, certified by the Hydraulic Institute, assist our customers in better understanding the status, health, performance and ability of their pumping systems to meet expected demand.
